  1. I have a question about novel chapters.... does each chapter have to be the same length or can some chapters be longer or shorter than others?

  2. I choose a standard length but it varies from chapter to chapter. How each chapter ends is the most important thing to consider. Readers usually take a break from reading after a chapter. How will each chapter leave your reader feeling? My ideal way to end a chapter is where there will be a change of circumstance. Readers also like a cliff hanger so they can look forward to finding out what happens. Think of each chapter as a quasi short-story; the more it holds its own as well as a short-story the better.
